What the Boss Says
Market Comment At the start of 2010 my view was to simply try and see it out and get it over and done with. How wrong could I have been, all the way through the first half of last year I am delighted to report that Harringtons have successfully completed on more sales than 2008 and 2009 combined. The rental market has been consistently strong and rental yields have started to increase. Interestingly we have seen equestrian enquiries pick up for properties with more than 6 acres with some of our properties attracting offers from more than two potential buyers.
January of last year brought with it the opening of a prestigious new Harringtons venture in the market town of Petersfield. Although at the time of conception, a brave choice to expand our position we have been overwhelmed by the success of this cold start business. The improved communications at Hindhead and established main line railway station has made Petersfield an obvious choice for people looking to commute to the city. This has also cemented our position as the agent of choice for sellers in the Meon Valley. The one major problem in the housing sector still remains the lack of available funding. In response we have agreed direct introduction with certain mainstream and boutique banks keen to do business in the property sector and we are successfully introducing many clients that are getting quick decisions and very good rates.
